When you already know what country it is in without having to look it up…
Because the islamists want to smash it I bet. Labor Tory unity.
Is it in the UK? If so, that ain’t happening.
Return the slab
It should rightfully be returned to France. They’re the ones who discovered it and realised its value.
*This shit stone has no value to me other than to be used to fill a ditch.*
Oh I’ll take it looks cool I’ll study and put it in a museum
*Hey that my valuable heritage you got there gib it back you thieves!!!!!!1111*
england: uhm, i don’t think so mister. we’re not done looking at it yet.
No thanks. I’ve been to Egypt and seen all the trash surrounding the pyramids. It’s fucking disgusting. It’s patently clear that Egyptian authorities do not take good care of Egyptian relics. Why should anyone give them anything? So it can be lost within a decade or two?
No.
As a power move, give it back to north Macedonia, it was made on behalf of a Ptolemy, after all.
I’m all for giving back objects that are culturally important to the peoples they were taken from, but the only link the Rosetta Stone has with modern Egypt is that they both were/are on the same landmass. This isn’t part of modern Egyptian culture, but rather of the culture that modern Islamic Egypt replaced. I think we should look at these cases differently than we do f.e. African artifacts taken from the people that are today still there and are missing culturally important items to them.
