UK demanded no EU flags at Prague gathering

    Ah, there’s the pettyness we’ve come to expect. Not only were literally a majority of the states represented EU members (IIRC, there were a total of 44 attendees, including all EU states), the EU institutions themselves *were also represented at the meeting*. (Well, the Council at least, but it’s relatively common for the president of the Council or the HR/VP to externally represent the EU.)

    Guess we should be happy they didn’t try to get the french or german flags removed too.

  2. Rightfully so. The EPC is not an EU event, 17 of the 44 countries/organisations represented are not EU members.

  3. people keep forgetting that the flag used by the eu isn’t called “flag of the european union” but “flag of europe”, and that it has been officially adopted by the council of europe ,an organisation that the uk is still a part of, as a symbol that represents the entirety of europe, years before the eu even existed
