EU vows ‘strongest response’ after damage to Nord Stream pipeline was ‘sabotage’

  1. I love how the media are suggesting it was sabotage without coming right out and saying it was sabotage because they can’t actually confirm either way.

I mean, devil’s advocate, What if it was just poor maintenance and bad timing?

  2. Serious question for non-conspiracy theorists – Who would do this and why? All the options I can think of seem pretty far fetched:

    1. Russia did it as one of their weird “novichok” style attacks – proxy attacks with plausible deniability designed to demonstrate power and confuse people. Bit of an own goal though.
    2. Russia did it as a “no going back” incentive. Reduces the potential for Putin to be otherthrown as it would be impossible to quickly reverse sanctions if the infrastructure is damaged.
    3. Ukraine did it to bolster support from Europe. Seems pretty far fetched, it’s nowhere near their turf or capability, plus everyone’s already on their side, this would risk a reversal of support.
    4. USA did it to reduce European appetite to remove sanctions. Gas prices are making people desparate, but there’s no point removing sanctions if the pipeline isn’t working.

  3. ‘stongest response’. ‘sabotage’

Remember when the news headlines didn’t have to put themselves in air quotes and only reported things that were facts…..

    Nah me neither

  4. How crooked are the these people who vow that response. They think we are naive. The sabotage was most likely done by the US to stop any negotiation between Europe and Russia

  5. They was talk a few days ago about US reconnaissance planes circling Kaliningrad. The two incidents are probably related.
