So I was speaking at a conference yesterday, and apparently the keynote speaker of that day was also in the room. He came to me afterwards to congratulate me on it. Which is the biggest compliment I could ever receive. So yeah, I think it went really well.

Aight so it seems the thread I made yesterday didn’t come through, imma just stop trying.
Anyway I had a workshop conference thing in Leuven yesterday which lasted about 12h, by the time I got home I was absolutely dead. It was very interesting though, didn’t think a whole day of discussing the current working and wanted improvement for the hospital’s future could be that engaging.
On another note I got my second round of tests scheduled next month for my kidney donation, next up are a bunch of blood tests, an angiography, scintigraphy, etc. I look forward to being radioactive.
I went swinging with a friends with benefits yesterday. It was awkward at first but eventually we started talking to a nice couple close to our age. It was a lot of fun, we might do it again in the future, but it is a little expensive so we’ll have to see how often we do it.
One of my bikes was stolen. I am finally really integrated.
Tell me if this is suspicious. My landlord and a repairman were in my apartment’s hallway where my bike lives, my landlord warned me another one of her Tennant’s bikes was just stolen, then my bike gets stolen less than 2 hours later after being untouched for months. Klepto landlord? Repairman call his buddies?
Anyone, if you see a blue dahon eco 8 with a broken bell, that’s mine 🙃
I wasn’t at work for 30 seconds before I was told we are to have huge budget cuts in my department. Not too surprising given the current news cycle, but it still is gonna suck big time.

I have a tiny corner next to my front door I want to plant something in.
It´s about 1m deep and 60cm wide, between the garden gate and the fence with the neighbour.
The walkway to the door is lined with lavender.
What could I plant there that supplements the lavender, grows to about 2m high and not too wide so it doesn´t block the gate?
Not sure if it is because I haven’t played a long time, but I’m kinda enjoying Overwatch 2 so far.
I’m also having lots of headaches this week. Good thing I can work from home and lay down a bit from time to time, but it sure is annoying. I’m thinking it might be the lowering of the dose of my medication. Since that’s the only thing that has changed in the past weeks. Hopefully next week will be better.

Short VDAB/GTB rant:
Bit of background: I know a thing of two about computers and programming since I’m autistic and whatnot. Learned programming quite fast a year or 4 back. Up to the point my teacher straight up said I’m technically strong but worthless socially.
So my current non-IT deskjob doesn’t have enough hours available to employ me fulltime. I recently got upped to 16hrs/week. Due the low amount of hours, I had to sign up with the VDAB/GTB. They recently proposed that I do a ‘heractiveringstraject’ and gave me a couple of options…
* Driver for the OCMW (think food deliveries)
* Truckdriver
* Busdriver
* Learning (poor) children with language or learning problems on how to operate the computer at their home
* Bike mechanic
There were other ones as well.
Now, I did mention I was autistic. Did I mention I have T1 diabetes as well? That means busdriver is defacto out. I know that there are truckdrivers with T1 diabetes but they usually got this while already on the job. I do not think a fresh driver will get hired with diabetes.
I could probably learn those kids how to operate computers. My main gripe is the language barrier and possibly outdated/broken hardware. Autistic communication skills are a close second reason why I don’t see this happening easily.
So to humor them I chose the bike mechanic position. I went on a introductory meeting and all seemed fine to start a 1 month probation period. I told them that due to my current job I can only go on 2 certain days of the week. That shouldn’t be a problem.
After a week they called me back to tell me that the workplace is already overstaffed on those days so I have to shift my current working days. Since I agreed with the traject, I have to follow their rules and put their efforts on the first place. This means they expect me to give up my current job for something totally out of my league and a (relatively speaking) gigantic paycut.
I’m not sure what they are smoking to be honest….
Been having eye irritation and overly sensitive to bright light since I moved over a month ago, a couple of times sharp pain in my eye but most of the time just the feeling of sandpaper. It didn’t go away and thought it was maybe something I’m allergic to in my new place, had to go to the GP anyway so I mentioned it: “Looks like cornea damage”. Well fuck. Got an urgent referral to an eye specialist, could luckily go an hour after my GP appointment. Turns out there was a piece of plastic embedded in my eye that got stuck on the cornea and she could remove it. She mentioned “I don’t understand how you could have lived with that in your eye for over a month”, I mean, it was more annoying than painful *shrug*.
If I needed any more reason to hate plastic. Fuck microplastics.
So I went to the CPAS of Mons this morning, because now I am no longer a student I need to transfer my folder to there.
They want *again* me to get my parents’ last ‘account extracts’ (whatever is the name for it in English).
I still don’t have news about the time I asked 5 years ago, that required lawyers and everything. You think I can do it in 10 days? lol
I have to write cover letters. I really dislike writing cover letters. I vaccuumed the whole house while procrastinating writing these cover letters.
