How tf does it cost over half a million to build a house.
400k per gaff
“Upon completion, the new homes will be leased on a long-term basis to the relevant local authority.”
Everyone getting in on the long term council lease action
“In a fresh departure from the practice of other institutional investors involved in the supply of social housing, the Ingka Group said it will treat the rental payments it collects as mortgage repayments. This will allow the transfer of all 150 homes to the local authorities at the end of the lease term at an estimated zero additional cost.”
Now there’s a refreshing take!

Behind paywall. Why are IKEA doing it ?
The houses will be made out of laminated chipboard.
So, how many boxes do the homes come in and what tools are in the box?
Would be better if they actually paid thier fare share of tax back into the country. Smells like a marketing ploy to me.
I suppose they will be flat pack with the owners being given the assembly instructions
Imagine getting the building contract and ikea trucks pull up with flat packed houses 🤣 fucking ikea man there will be extra roof or window or door in wach box and noone will know wher to put it 🤔
€666000 per house lol.
In the fine print you will give Ikea the right of way for customers to view the homes and you sign away any rights to buy any other brand of furniture
