212-megawatt battery storage plant gets go-ahead in Kildare despite objections from top horse breeders
2022-10-03
NIMBY’s will be the death of this country, vital infrastructure being objected to en masse and delayed because it might upset the horses, fucking farcical…
I’m all for battery storage but I can kinda see an argument against the location of it there. A fire in one of them batterys would pretty much wipe out the horse livestock industry in Ireland as the concentration of some of the highest quality stud farms in the world are within that 30km radius.
A fire at that plant would put a lot of toxic smoke into the air which would put a fair bit of strain onto that industry possibly killing animals or at a minimum wiping out some of their value due to lung issues.
Can we not just put this in Roscommon and sure if it does go on fire we will probably not notice any I’ll effects….
… joke obviously, I like Roscommon people.
Fuck horse breeders, when they pay tax, we’ll listen (maybe 🤔)
Are these the same horse breeders who are against the solar farm?
There’s merit behind the phrase “up on your high horse”…
When Covid was locking everyone down these selfish cunts still ran Cheltenham and caused a spreader event. Fuck them. The most selfish collection of pricks you’ll actually meet.
I hear the horses are going electric next year.
Fuck the horse breeders.
Turlough Hill seems to have a capacity of 292MW for some comparison on storage if anyone else is interested. The speed they can charge discharge is also important and are likely different for both projects.
*…stud farm owned by US billionaire John Malone…*
Uh-huh.
*,,,while his Liberty Global owns Virgin Media Ireland.*
Uh-huh.
*…received 171 third party submissions with only one in support of the proposal.*
Uh-huh.
Idk when exactly why or even how it started but I’ve a deep hatered for horses , so yeah I’m happy they aren’t getting their way
good. fuck those guys
I breed horses (not race horses, not in Kildare) and I absolutely fail to see what the problem is here. The fuck is a battery storage plant going to do to horses? It’s also good to see the Kildare set getting it up the hole ngl.
And also to see the east of the country having to start pulling their weight with this stuff.
