Polish culture has always had the ability to laugh at itself, even over tasteless, morbid, horrible, or traumatic things. See movies like “Jak rozpętałem drugą wojnę światową.”
Polish culture also had the ability to laugh at others who had misconceptions about Poland, rather than get traumatized the way minorities in the West do.
I’d be very sad if Poland adopted woke/butthurt Western culture.
I think Poland’s attitude towards hardship and humor are a part of why Poland has had decades of economic growth, an excellent school system, etc. The Western culture of victimhood — even where accurate — simply isn’t productive. It’s not how you want to view yourself if you want to move forward.
