Ireland ranks second worst across OECD for parental leave and worst for ‘public family policies’

  1. None of these figures look correct to me

Not sure what their source is but women get much more than 7 week’s maternity leave

Even if you took fathers parental leave into account I still don’t see how the average drops to 7.5

  2. Basically when it comes to ranking each country on a number of government policies, such as spending on family benefits and education, Ireland has the 2nd worst because when it comes to spending on education it’s 2.3% of the GDP and early education and care is 0.3% of the GDP.

  3. My work recently allowed me paternity leave. It’s unpaid as I’m only 18 months there. No problem I thought, not that bad, until I got my pay cheque for the month before paternity. They decided to take 1000 euro off me for weeks I worked, and not pay me for the two week paternity. So for the two weeks I’m down 4 weeks wages.
