Letters of no confidence in Liz Truss ‘already being put in’, says Tory MP

  1. Can we just live without PM….leave parliament and parties and let them be responsible and picking someone when’s there a need for 1 person to represent something.

  2. I’ve got a few unused books of postage stamps, I’ll send a few letters of no confidence through the post before they become void.

She’ll be thankful for the postal strikes.

  3. This was the plan by the Johnson sycophants. Get someone so bad in, they take the blame for the inevitable chaos (they may even make it worse) and he gets back on the ballot next time. Truss won’t last until April. She was hopelessly out of her depth 3 years and two massive promotions ago!

  4. Can we the voters at least choose the next PM, the Tory government sequels are getting worse and worse, this lot are at Jaws the revenge levels of shit.

  5. Lovely more Tory infighting, just call a bloody general election and stop holding the country hostage while you fight your petty squabbles. You’re all awful, not a single member of the Tories gives me any sort of hope for the future.

  6. Do letters have to come from The Party, or can anyone write in & point out that next door’s cat would do a better job?

  7. Nothing pleases me more than watching the tories internally implode. Only joy to be had in all of this chaos. It was always an inevitability that they’d destroy the country along the way sadly. But post 2019 I’ve lost any patience or understanding for anybody who voted for them. They were warned constantly about the consequences of Johnson’s government and an unleashed crack job far right brexit government and boy they got far more than they even bargained for. All they’ve got to try and pathetically defend themselves is to ramble on about low level thinking mistruths regarding corbyn.

No sympathy for any of them. Huge sympathy for the rest of us going down with this ship. But never forgive any of them and never forget.

Let’s get a GE asap. Then these dense little nuggets can go back to blaming Labour for 12 years of Tory rule the second they get into power 🤪

  8. So it’s working as intended? Short the pound vs dollar, throw in economic molotovs that make Sunaks plans look sensible in comparison and then a shock vote of no confidence.

I for one welcome our new prime minister Boris Johnson.

  9. Ah yes that’s great

Let’s get the 3rd government installment that we didn’t vote for at all. Maybe that’ll work

  10. That’s grand.

We’ll just have another 2 months while they pick the next clown in line then?

  11. I can only assume they’re annoyed at how brazenly they’re robbing the british public rather than that they’re doing it, given that what’s going on is basically the entire point of the tory party. They’re supposed to be sneaky thieves, not smash and grab burglars.

  12. Letters of no confidence should be put in against everyone of those tories that voted her to be PM. It’s not like she didn’t tell them what she was going to do. It’s not like economists didn’t warn of the dangers, but still they voted for her.

  13. Is it a vote of no confidence in Liz Truss, or in the Conservative Party?

If the former, we’ll end up having to wait for ANOTHER new leader to be voted in, allowing for the damage to continue longer. The UK politics system is so garbage right now. Meanwhile Tory’s won’t vote no confidence in their own party because the majority would probably lose their seat in parliament…

  14. Truss has done precisely what she said they she was going to do. How can you put in a letter having put per forward as one of the best two candidates when she starts going precisely what she campaigned on?! This is insanity.

  15. Colleague of mine is dyed in the wool lifelong tory voter.

She sent an email to her MP today saying how disgusted with Truss she is and that she will be voting Labour at the next GE.

I suspect this MP will be getting a lot of similar correspondence today and in the coming weeks.

  16. If the Tories dump another PM, then they will have lost any pretence of democratic mandate.

They simply have no right to claim legitimacy.

  17. Times like these make me miss the one we had after Cameron

She was boring as shit as wasn’t putting forward horrible policies regarding Trans people like me

  18. Goes in, gets her mates rich, goes out, presumably spotted in the Bahamas or a Greek Island, in a few weeks. Returns to backbench in a few months. Folk blame her and not the party and it goes around again.

Clearly speed running the bojo strategy.

  19. It’s no big deal. These people are only meant to be running a country. Not like we actually need someone we have confidence in. By which, I don’t think anybody had confidence in Truss in the first place. What an absolute shambles.

  20. Isn’t this why we have a monarch? Can’t Charles revoke their ability to form a government? Like how shit does a government have to be? How do you get rid of one or mandate another election other than through mass protest?

  21. Im 90% sure now that Truss always knew the budget would do this, and is in cahoots with Kwarteng to short the pound for personal profit.

  22. What’s the point? They already chose Rishi by a significant majority. Then they put it out to the Tory membership who went for Liz despite knowing that she didn’t have the backing of MPs. And then Liz went off and did a bunch of things which nobody other than a few rich, selfish and apparently quite stupid Tory members voted for.

What this shows is we need to use the proper democratic process to decide on the policies our government follows, and that means an election. There’s no way the policy of borrowing money to cut taxes for >150k would fly in an election. It would be debated. Hard questions would be asked. Things like ‘the international community might lose confidence in us if we borrow too much for the wrong reasons ‘ would get mentioned and debated, just like it did when Gordon Brown was in charge.

In the end isn’t the whole point of democracy to ensure that policies get discussed and our leaders pursue the ones that the majority want. If they kick Truss out they’ll just repeat the whole mess again and doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result is not smart.

We need a general election to sort it all out.
