We can’t out build this , Demand >> Supply

  1. Ah yes of course. A nation who created the men who built every road in England the city of New York can’t build property on its own island.

Yes we can. We just can’t do it and have a completely shyte civil service.

  2. You’d be surprised what could be done without NIMBYs and a constipated civil service and the obsession with sending kids to college doing shite degrees instead of trades.

  3. We need to double the new build figures annually to keep up with this level of growth. Also need to get density and height up in the cities, rapidly. I don’t see it happening due to NIMBY’s. Or else limit immigration.

  4. By design.

People should just get used to the current cost of rents and housing because there’s no way it’s coming down by any serious amount when the government is actively trying to bring as many people into the country as possible while simultaneously doing nothing of significance to increase supply.

They’ll never out build the level of growing demand.

  5. As of Aug 2022, ~64K PPSN was issued for Ukrainian refugees. That is temporary protection, and once the war is over most of the refugees will go back.

  6. There’s no real shortage of supply. It’s artificial. We sell all of the property to corporations and set laws to make housing a safer investment for companies and the super rich. There’s 70000 vacant homes according to the census. It’s not that there’s not enough building, its that the laws are written to make housing as profitable as possible for the small few who have managed to hoarde it.

  8. This is beyond ridiculous and makes me so mad. We can’t keep allowing people to relocate here if there are no houses. Everyone is too afraid to be called racist to speak up and stop this madness!!!

  9. As a nation there’s a huge gap between what we should do and can do. If only we had a government who was responsible.
