Hello! I just received this jar from a relative who traveled through beautiful Slovenia this past month, but I could use some help identifying the content/its best uses as the label ripped when it was first opened. I originally assumed it was a sauce to accompany meat, but from the amount of salt in it now I’m thinking it might be a broth starter? It looks to be a green vegetable mix, and I believe it comes from the Klemšek Tourist Farm, but I’m not sure. Would love to learn more about it. Thanks!!

Yes, it looks like a vegetable starter mix for broths, soups and sauces. It’s green because there’s parsley and or celery leaves in it.
It says the vegetables were produced above 1000 meters sea level (altitude). It also says it doesn’t include artificial preservatives.
Yep looks like a vegetable broth starter made by a farm in Logarska dolina. It also states that all the vegetables were grown 1000m above sea level which is… interesting I guess
Says to store below 8 degrees celsius, as it does not contain any artificial preservatives
Yes, in ex-Yugoslavia we used to have (and still have now) a mix called Vegeta, which was used for seasoning all kinds of food. Contained some dried veggies but also a ton of sodium glutamate.
People started doing their own, more healthy versions. So basically still contains a lot of veggies but also plenty of salt for preservation. As others have written, most commonly used to add to soups and broths, but basically you can use it with most kinds of cooked dishes instead of pure salt, to add some more flavour.
How do you know that Slovenia is beautiful if you have never been here?
