This is outrageous and the fact that the IOPC don’t seem to think this is deserving of some sort of disciplinary action is just beyond the pale.
‘black man?’ wtf. This country is racist as fuck, just use his name ffs.
This is a difficult one for the police because people lie. How many times must they hear “my chest is hurting” or “I can’t breathe” when they have someone in custody or when in prison? This then makes it hard to believe someone when you hear it daily. Time is wasted by the paramedics etc just to check them over if there’s nothing wrong. Another expense that we pay for. Another spot in A&E taken up by someone who is lying. Don’t get me wrong if they aren’t then fair enough they deserve the treatment because that’s the world we live in. Issue is it’s the boy who cried wolf and then this sort of thing happens.

Can they please drug-test him before anyone does something dumb?
I can imagine that the police do this all the time with suspects they think are trying it on, even if only 1% of these cases are genuine like with this guy, why would they even risk people dying?
A double whammy, a police force that have utter disdain for people in their care (especially black) and a NHS overstretched so can’t send out an ambulance.
>The inquest heard that although the police were told the ambulance service had suspended responses to all but the most urgent calls due to high levels of demand that day, the officers with Ian did not consider driving him to a hospital two streets away.
How the fuck can you wait from 5:55 to 6:32 when the hospital is within spitting distance
