I’m sure Shane Ross’s new biography of Sinn Féin’s leader Mary Lou McDonald will be a very unbiased account of her life so far./s

  1. Shane Ross shat the bed with the Blueshirts and now is trying to remain somewhat relevant by throwing said shit at the Shinners. He’s not stupid but he seems to have won no favour with anyone.

  2. You also have to look at the date the letter was published. It’s 35 years ago. At that time SF did not run any candidates for Dail elections. They were nothing more than the political wing of a Terrorist organisation trying to overthrow the state.

50,000 homes were raided due to bank robberies, protection rackets and hiding people who placed bombs in pubs.

You can talk whether their actions were justified but the fact is they broke many laws in this state. The vast majority of Irish people were against the armed campaign, against SF up until 1997 when they had their first TD.

  3. lol at the state of that letter

“Does Mr Ross consider himself Hitler” – Here’s a handy photo of Mr Ross looking like Hitler

  4. The “presumption of the innocence of the Birmingham Six had been taken for granted for too long.” r/agedlikemilk

The authorities in the UK knew the 6 weren’t involved, when they were imprisoned none of them ran with the IRA while inside.

One of them was my neighbour for years, lovely man

  5. If you’re posting this and failing to acknowledge it was a month after the Enniskillen bombing, you’re probably not positioned to talk about bias.

  6. It’s worth taking into context that in 1987 the IRA were one of the most organised and active terrorist groups in the world. Bearing that in mind, it’s not too unreasonable for another politician to suggest that their political arm, Sinn fein, should not be allowed to participate in the political process.

  7. For balance sake, when this was written SF were the political mouthpiece for the IRA who were a murder and crime gang who had emiserated, murdered and maimed hundreds of people.

MLMD’s SF is not that outfit and presumably doesn’t celebrate or condone the actions of the PIRA.

Having said that, Shane Ross will not be balanced. He can’t help chasing a good headline, and this means he’ll be looking for scandal or sensation and knowing him he’ll look too hard and make a fool of himself

  8. Well if Shane Ross said something mean about Sinn Fein in 1987 that surely explains how Mary Lou acquired a million euro house on a TDs salary. Glad we got all that cleared up.
