Keir Starmer calls trickle-down economics a ‘piss take’ as he slams Tory tax cuts. Labour has also announced plans to end dependence on fossil fuels by 2030.

  1. What’s even more of a piss take is that these jokers are anywhere near power; the Tories should have been out of power in 2015. I wouldn’t trust anyone in the last twelve years of government to tie my laces, in fact, if they told me the sky was blue, I’d seriously doubt my eyesight.

  2. How do we realistically end dependence on fossil fuels by 2030? Nuclear plants take over a decade to build and we’d need several of them.

  3. Honestly, the set up is there for the next election – Labour just need to head it in to the net.

If they don’t manage to secure a victory I’d be shocked.

  4. This is their fifth (sixth?) different economy approach during their time in power. The pound continues to sink. None of their strategies have worked. And this one, this return to ‘reaganomics’ was roundly debunked before most people reading this comment were even born. It just doesn’t work. This is insanity, by Albert Einstein’s definition. All this from the party of money men and fiscal responsibility.
These people in charge of our country – they’re not conservatives, they are libertarian extremists. They are going to run our country (and let’s remember that means her people, her resources and her economy) into the ground. And then they’re going to disappear. And there’s really nothing we can do about it as far as I can tell.

  5. > “Trickle down – it’s a piss take,” he added,

This is the kind of clear messaging we need outside of parliament. Had enough of being polite and rising above. No need to stoop to their level but a certain bluntness is needed now.

  6. Am I missing something or are all of this guy’s policies reactive to what the Conservatives put out? I have no idea what Labour are about unless the Tories propose something controversial.

    Was it always like this?

  7. Politicians at home:

“could you please pass the remote, dear?”

“oh yes, I promise to pass it to you within the next 10 years”

    *never passes the remote*

  8. Can anyone share the article or explain what he means by ending dependence to fossil fuels by 2030? Energy in the UK is over 75% fossil fuels today.

  9. Ive never voted for labour as they have nothing for employment in my local area despite being in power for as long as I can remember. Ive never voted tories either as they are cunts. Ive either not voted or voted for the liberals when Nick Clegg seemed to get them competitive. Not voting was the closest I could bring myself to Ticking the box for Labour last time out, but this time, I will
Be first in the queue waiting to vote for them.
The tories really are just taking the piss now.
