Oh no… not the marathon. Fuck the ecological and enviromental catasrophe. Don’t you dare stop people running.
I understand the desire for publicity and awareness.
But really a marathon is not exactly the best thing to disturb: that’s people running in an event that require to block a lot of road to regular traffic.
What’s next, disturbing offshore windfarm inauguration? Blocking a Vegan conference?
Are the runners using oil to run the marathon?
I’ve seen adverts for an event on Saturday. When there are no electric trains to take them to the event.
Oh, the irony. Trying to stop people using oil in transport thus forcing people to go on foot by stopping people going on foot. But it’s all about them, not the issue, so we shouldn’t be surprised.
I expect they told the suffagettes not to disrupt the Derby too.
I’m fine with them protesting the government or major pollutant companies. But I think that I would definitely lose sympathy for a climate protestor that disrupted another charity event like the London Marathon.
The protestors are planning a variety of information campaigns, conferences. civil disobedience etc. throughout October. I don’t know that they had anything planned that will get in the way of the marathon specifically, and there is no sign that they are ideologically opposed to it. But Just Stop Oil need to be considerate about who exactly they are disrupting and whether they are a liability for the movement.
Who’s looking at the UK’s current situation and thinking. Yes, let’s shut off the oil.
I understand transiting away from fossil fuels but until we have enough renewable and nuclear energy to sustain turning off the oil then no.
Right now we need as much oil and gas as we can get for the moment.
i guess not enough people are watching the runners on telly so they want to introduce some “will they won’t they” lol
