Jonathan Dowdall willing to be a witness in Gerry Hutch murder trial, court hears

  1. Cases like this show why we need the Special Criminal Court. Its a lot harder to intimidate a panel of judges than it is to threaten a jury into returning a not guilty verdict.

I wonder if those calling for it to be abolished would be happy to sit on a jury for an international gangland figure?

    Edit:

To the people who are down voting this, by all means, put forward your case as to why you believe it should be abolished. In my mind, abolishing the SCC is only in the interest of the Jonathan Dowdalls and Jerry Hutches of this world.

  2. The more I read about this attack the more of a fuck up it appears. If they had a room in the hotel, why did they have to enter from outside, with their weaponry etc, and thus arouse suspicion before they even got to the function room?

  3. How much faith would you have in a witness protection programme run by the Gardaí. I’m not talking about corruption here rather just that your details will be on a phone that goes missing.

He probably doesn’t have many good options, Hobson’s choice.
