Dublin City Council v stickers: Dozens of Temple Bar street poles coated in special paint

  1. A better solution might be for Dublin City Council to reduce the number of pointless poles, some of which don’t even have anything on them, and other street clutter.

College Green, in particular, looks fucking stupid.

  2. Smacks of that anti chewing gum path resurface they’ve tried in a few places since I was a kid. Kinda worked but it’s not bonded to the lower layer and is easily disturbed/removed

  3. What a joke, as if cleaner lamposts will make Dublin suddenly shine

I love them, I take pictures of the football ones and put some up of my team (Shels)

  4. >“I have not come across one single person who does not appreciate the stickers seen around Dublin,” said photographer Carl Foran, who runs the Instagram account @stickerzofdublin.

I feel like it’s like asking Guinness what the population things of drink.
I neither appreciate or dislike them they are just kind of there and I never thought much about them.

Feels like a waste of money to try tackle this though.

  5. I realise this is such a trivial issue but I honestly want to complain to DCC about this. Of all the things they could fix to make Dublin nicer – potholes and mismatched tarmac everywhere, filthy pavements, poles and signalling boxes everywhere – they choose stickers?? Seriously?? The stickers actually are one of the few things that add some interest to the commercial wasteland that is Dublin city centre

  6. This, this is the number one priority.

Forget war in Ukraine, housing crisis, energy crisis, etc.

So glad the council is finally tackling this awful problem.

  7. Even with a new government DCC will still be comprised of Fine Gael brained fascists. They wanted all murals removed in case some one thought about making a political mural like those in Northern Ireland celebrating our freedom.

  8. I actually like a sticker and I like that Dublin has a good sticker culture. I love seeing different football supporters from all around the world leave their mark. Out of all the problems in Dublin, this seems like an overly expensive remedy to a problem that doesn’t really exist.
