Note that this is about a junk food _discount_ ban, not a complete junk food ban – but I can’t change the post title because of rule 2.
Good decision; you’re in charge of what you put into your own body. They up tobacco each year but myself and millions continue to smoke. Just makes those individuals worse off.
Not great, I think it’s better to tax stuff like this and then cut VAT and the lower bands of income tax.
Good, should lower the bloody price of it especially pop and crisps, the price of those are ridiculous.
tbh I think it’s the advertising they need to go for anyway, promotions do influence *which* junk I buy, but probably not *how much* in all honesty
e.g. let’s say online for the big supermarkets they weren’t allowed to adverse junk food, you had to actively search for it instead – I think that’d be an effective way to cut down on how much people buy, reduce impulsive spending and such, without making it more expensive for the consumer
I think point of sale junk is already banned in shops, or its been talked about… that I approve of and this would be an extension
Life is shit and getting shitter. If you want a Mars bar, go for it.
Good, all these “taxes ” do is make people pay more for the same food, or eat nothing. If you don’t use the money raised to lower the price of healthier alternatives, you are just making food more expensive and that only significantly effects one group, the poor.
