Crown court roll-out of pre-recorded evidence in England and Wales complete

  1. If everything is pre-recorded, how will the defence be able to cross examine the witness? It’s not cross examination if the witness doesn’t respond to the defence at all and doesn’t have their version of the events challenged.

  2. Now can this become the norm? A simple pre-arranged and recorded conference call with the relevant barristers and the witness to get the matters addressed without having to faff everyone about. This would save the system an absolute fortune and a shit-ton of court time.
