Is this actually a measure of imperial influence in these countries? Like the column on the right is countries the US hasn’t invaded successfully yet.
The shite that people put on poorly laid out and under explained graphs.
What exactly is the y axis? Ireland has 150% reported and an equal % of lights between 2002 and 2021? What does that even mean ffs?
And poor auld Libya. They report that they have ~10 lights but actually have ~-40 lights.
What does the amount of lights on at night have to do with the gdp?
Seems like a silly chart. Poorer countries will experience larger percent change in GDP than richer countries, and poorer countries are also less likely to be lit up at night because they don’t have a well developed infrastructure.
This chart makes it seem like those countries are lieing about their growth or something
