A good time to remember our kin, who have been living under Russia’s rule, slowly losing their roots.
[Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROMikM-OAOc&t) is one cool representation of how Uralic languages evolved. It’s not entirely correct of course as we know that Finnish developed from the Proto-Finnic spoken in or around Estonia (Estonian is more diverse in its origins than Finnish in that sense), but it’s cool nevertheless.
Whole Northern Russia was Finnic about thousand years ago. Then those Finnic people assimilated to Russians.
and they live well there without you.
I am confused, what does this map show?
The area where you can find ancestors of the people who spoke finno-ugric language in ancient times?
It says 2007 in the bottom right corner, does that mean in that year, people spoke finno-ugric in these areas?
Sry, I know very little about finno-ugric, didn’t know saami and estonians were part of it, etc. We learned in school that it is hungarians/magyars and finns, who are from this group, but living apart for centuries made them distinct. I know the meme tho, that estonia is finlands little sister.
My hearth hurts due to Orban blocks our Finnish brothers from NATO against Slavic aggression. #hungarian #shame
