Bit confused, what’s the issue with this? Unprofessional?
Weird story as others are denying this is the reason and Mel b (who must have had the weirdest career if we think about it) hints he made a disgraceful comment to her in a lift that she reported.
Tory standards are baffling.
There’s absolutely no suggestion that any of this wasn’t consensual from any of the reports, which surely is needed to turn this from basic flirting into a sackable offence?
But then expecting consistency from the Tories is a thankless task.
Honestly thought he would have been kicked out for donating money to charity that helps the homeless but this standard torie affair I guess
Obviously more going on here. The article also mentions claims of inappropriate comments and that he was very drunk. Nobody is getting sacked for consenually touching someone’s leg.
Either Truss is taking a zero tolerance approach or there is more to this than is being said. It is certain that she is not going to work hard to retain ministers if she feels they might be a Johnson-style PR disaster for her though.
So I’m clear, touch a consenting man’s thigh you get removed from post with immediate effect. Fuck an economy without even a courtesy reach around and you get to go for drinky poos with Tarquin and the chaps
Ahhh, ‘friends’ rushing to his defence with the old he mixed alcohol with pain meds defence.
Genuinely surprised his supporters aren’t blaming the alleged victim for having a young pretty thigh and dressing it provocatively in tight trousers with his ankle showing.
…. The yoof today,Just asking for it.
What a twat
There is nothing in that article to make clear that this act was not consensual. Indeed, the article makes it clear this is not known.
If it was consensual, then you have to ask was this the only sexual incident at this conference. With the booze flowing, the various areas in this venue, that seems unlikely. And if it is only this incident that has been highlighted and led to sacking, then it is hard not to draw a conclusion that this sacking was discriminatory against his sexual orientation.
This is not the only outcome possible from what we know, far from it. But I’d think the government might want to provide a bit more clarification to avoid the conclusion above bring drawn by others.
Not sure what to make of this. But this article is a wee bit telling.
So he was on pain medication for a preexisting injury, and decided to drink anyway, and not one of his mates or colleagues said “Oi, I wouldn’t drink with then if I were you, you only had an injury last week”.
Unless it is all bullshit really and he is another one who thinks he can get away with whatever he wants with his mates holding his coat.
Why create an obvious lie if there was no wrongdoing?
Considering he tried to intimidate someone with parliamentary privilege, then tried to worm his way out of it by resigning before being binned, I think it is safe to say that he has history of being a cretin, so he was probably being a cretin here.
Drunk on pain meds and touching a young man’s thigh at a conference.
I mean that alone… I hope there is an investigation by the Met.
