Yup. There is a way to deter it, there should be an option under those three little dots on the right of the “similar to ireland” suggestion, with “show me less of this”, and then “posts from this community”.
YES and McDonalds
I use Rif instead of the official app. No recommended posts, much less obtrusive ads. I have the official app just for the Reddit chat but barely use it.
Eh, no. I use Firefox and ad blockers.
It’s just such a random subreddit to promote, of which I would have zero interest in reading.
Glad i’m not the only one receiving these Aldi suggestions. I thought I was going mental.
Ha never seen them.
Don’t use the reddit branded app, instead find an alternative like reddit is fun.
I just clicked “show me less from this community” for this exact same sub suggestion about an hour ago. Not sure why Reddit thinks I care about the behind-the-scenes at Aldi…

Reject modernity.
Embrace tradition.
All the fucking time and it will not go away
Same and programmer humour I just made a post about it over there. Great bunch of lads, even if I don’t understand half of it hahaha
i get the same except with r/ireland
Yup, also Scottish football, the Cork sub, McDonald’s workers sub and loads of other shite.
Apollo is the way to go on mobile. Never see ads or sponsored posts etc. Very customisable but also simple to use. /r/apolloapp
Don’t use the default reddit app and switch to something like Apollo.
Ignoring the fact there’s no ads, you also don’t get your data harvested like you would on the default app, also it’s free?
Haah yeah got a recommendation from r/Aldi of people buying pumpkins saying that white people are weird…all cause they celebrate Halloween
I use Apollo on iOS, with no ads and lots of customization in terms of filtering/blocking anything
Yes I thought I join it by mistake and didn’t leave because I want to know what’s happening with my food
old.reddit.com ?
It’s a punishment for not using old. reddit
Is this some Official App thing I’m too Apollo App to understand?
