He’s about as Irish as Conor McGregor 🙄

  1. Conor McGregor is Irish? Wouldn’t posting something like “Piers Morgan is about as Irish as Paddington Bear” make more sense.

  2. He might qualify for an Irish passport but he was born and raised in the UK and his mother is British. He’s more qualified for this honour than all the men winning Times woman of the year.

  3. What is with these buttholes who think just because they have relatives over here they can claim there Irish, the man is the most nonsensical British fudge face who ever existed

  4. No he’s only Irish through his da but the bastard was born and raised in Britain. God that twat pisses me off. I get that nationality in Europe is often done through blood than country of birth but his ma is British and he was born in Britain so he’s more British than fucking Irish.

Piers just take the fucking trophy as most annoying Brit alive and fuck off.

  5. If his dad is Irish , doesn’t that make his ethnicity Irish as well.

I don’t think it’s so ridiculous of him claiming he is Irish as well.

  6. Born in Surrey, England.

    Never lives in Ireland.

Does not publicly express any major interest in Irish culture.

    What?

  7. Looks like his father was Irish, but he died while Piers was still a baby. He took his Welsh step father’s name and was born and brought up in the UK. Can’t see him identifying as Irish before.

As an aside, I hate the trend of pretending McGregor isn’t Irish. People died so people can identify as Irish, and they never said “No prices allowed”. Can we admit he is an embarrassment to himself and not the country.

  8. This is going to get downvotes obviously, and I hate Piers Morgan guts as much as anyone else here. Perhaps he’s trolling, or perhaps he’s just conveniently using that part of his identity to punt the fact that he’s an insufferable cunt away.

But, this identity gatekeeping thing that Irish people do (and especially this sub) is sickening at times. Piers Morgan’s father was Irish, and just because you don’t like him or don’t agree with his politics doesn’t remove the fact that by blood he is half Irish, and and it’s pretty stupid to think that people born abroad to Irish parents or even grandparents can’t be Irish.

People need to accept that there is more than one version of Irish that someone can be. We accepted that the Anglo-Irish were a slightly different brand of Irish, we accept that the travellers are a different brand of Irish, and I’d even argue that that our brethren across the border are a different brand of Irish. So why can’t Morgan who is Irish by blood be Irish, and why can’t some Americans who also have Irish parentage and have lots of Irish cultural touchpoints be Irish?

Again, fully expect this to be well into the downvotes because this sub uses the downvote as a dislike button rather than it’s [intended function](https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette).

  9. He’s obviously taking the piss to get a rise out of people.. I don’t like McGregor either, but he’s Irish, you can’t just switch someone else’s nationality because you don’t like them.

  10. He’s only Irish when it suits him a.k.a when he goes to the states and talks about how ‘Oirish’ he is. But he’s a Rule Britannia tory cunt to the core.

  11. He was born in Surrey to an English woman and an Irish father, just because you’re a dual citizen doesn’t mean you also aren’t the worst British person.
