It is still a very (culturally) conservative country. When men in robes still have influence on politicians and their policies in the 21st century there is a problem.

There’s CBD shops now but thats it
I believe it was grown in Cyprus in the early ages. They used it for rope making for ships. The climate and soil is perfect for growing it. Nowadays it has many uses, they even making bricks with it that are insulating. That alone has a big market in the EU. I think it has a potential to be a great source of income for farmers.
One problem is that government officials, politicians, cops, lawyers, they make much more money by having it illegal.
We are ruled by old stubborn people , plus the anti narcotics division of the police is more corrupted than organized crime,
Nothing will change , just visit Netherlands 3-4 times a year and enjoy good weed

5 years doesn’t sound too long for something to happen in Cyprus. I think the only time I saw something happening quickly in Cyprus was when taking measures against covid. Everything else is just excruciating slow.
