I hate the tories probably more than the next guy but correlation doesn’t equal causation. The study has not linked the deaths to anything the Tories did just merely correlated them.
The nhs being filled with people with degrees that are not up to 1st world standards kinda helps too
Nonsense
What a load of shite! One party is no better than any other. All self-serving pigs at the trough.
Wise up. Blair killed 1.5 million and he was more
Tory than any Tory!
The link between poverty and early deaths, is reasonably clear, multiple studies show similar conclusions.
Anyone who thinks that austerity won’t kill people, is either a Tory, or a sociopath, if they voted for it.
They are one and the same.
That headline is very Goldie Lookin’ Chain
We’re getting austerity again whichever party is in power, and no one’s going to change that, even Paul Daniels. (As an aside never understood how running massive fiscal deficits was ‘austere.’) Ageing population means the welfare Ponzi scheme is broken. Buckle up, politicians can keep lying but not indefinitely,
Nutters being nutters
Please don’t limit the blame for this to just those in government. They were repeatedly supported by the Tory voting public over the last .
This is what Tory voters wanted.
This is their vision of Britain.
This is the hell that those morally bereft cunts have created for us.
They are culpable.
They’re only doing their best,
They take more people out of poverty permanently.
Ah well, if one academic study from some no-name Scottish (read: Tory hating) researchers (not even employed at a university) say it then it must be true…
the 334,000 deaths simply don’t exist, an outright lie.
If anyone read the study they would find that they argue for a **linear** reduction in death rates between 2012 (a date they admit to cherry picking in the study) and 2019, at the same rate as between 1981-2011. This trend leads to immortality, which is obviously impossible and the claim is not valid
Furthermore, the 334,000 is comprised of 250,000 men and 84,000 women, which suggests that mortality for men got worse, however in fact the opposite is true: male mortality decreased by 5.4% and female by 3.5%, so it is clearly an entirely meaningless number, with no basis in reality.
This means that male mortality had been declining even faster previously, however this is also something that cannot continue forever. Perhaps in the previous period many men stopped smoking, hence the decline in deaths. You cannot repeat that.
A decline in mortality is good, not bad, and it’s impossible for mortality to continue to decline at the same rate forever, because it would reach zero, whereas we have to die.
So? What’s anyone gonna do about it?
Y’know, other than continue to vote for them lmao.
The new cabinet talking about changing things for the better, as if they had nothing to do with the previous lot a few months ago.
Er yeah, but, no, but, that was US, THEN, right? and this is US, NOW, totally different.
It’s a bit more sophisticated than simple correlation. Worth a read.
Eight times what the Luftwaffe managed during the Blitz.
They bankrupted the country and sold off the crown jewel assets to their rich mates.
Great picture too. 4 Prime Ministers but only 1 was elected. Desperate to Americanise and full send with the idea of Capitalism.
This is a Democratic Socialist country. We need to remember this.
Or the boomers who have a monopoly on elections did.
They’ve killed a lot more people than that. And they laugh about it all at the end of the day and go back to their mansions. Planning their next robbery, I’m sure. Bunch of evil POS.
Alistair Darling admitted tonight that Labour’s planned cuts in public spending will be “deeper and tougher” than Margaret Thatcher’s in the 1980s, as the country’s leading experts on tax and spending warned that Britain faces “two parliaments of pain” to repair the black hole in the state’s finances.
Some tobacoo lobby tier bullshit going on ITT.
This is a well researched field, far beyond the op article, and if you’re going to cry “bias” then look up what peer review is, and if you want to cry “correlation does not equal causation” then make sure you understand what that phrase actually means in science before you make yourself look stupid.

I think this is based on this study: https://jech.bmj.com/content/early/2022/09/26/jech-2022-219645
