I always get this thought in my head. I’ve always wondered how many Irish people have ever existed? Is there an actual way of getting an approximate figure for this?

They’ve been able to get an approximate figure for how many Americans have ever lived which is supposed to be 600 million: [https://babelniche.com/2010/01/19/how-many-americans-have-there-been/#:\~:text=If%20you%20add%20up%20all,ever%20lived%20are%20alive%20now](https://babelniche.com/2010/01/19/how-many-americans-have-there-been/#:~:text=If%20you%20add%20up%20all,ever%20lived%20are%20alive%20now).

Would it be very unrealistic to figure out how many of us have existed since the Norman’s invaded in the 1100’s maybe? There’s probably no way to find out before the 1800’s or something?

  1. You’d first need an agreed upon standard of what constitutes “Irish” that may be harder than the actual maths involved.

  2. Stats will be going up these days with brexit and all.
My family have just received birth certificates here in England. Took 25 months so there must be a lot of us if it was so delayed.

  3. About 30 years ago I read that the dead outnumber the living by about 20 times, so there’s a rough starting point. Find out what the ratio is now and get at least a *very* rough idea…
