Some people deserve to be evicted – the process is already difficult enough to complete.
People should be allowed sell and renovate their property.
Increase RTB funding and powers to deal with landlords gaming the system.
Banning evictions doesn’t doesn’t solve any problems – but it sounds nice.
What does an eviction ban cover? Would it mean people could stop paying rent but not be evicted?
Our AG is responsible for a property portfolio worth almost 9 million euros. I’m sure there’s no conflict of interest there.
I was evicted after the legal 6 months notice period. We went sale agreed on a house right at the start of the 6 month window and solicitors being useless we don’t have a house to move into yet. Homeless with 4 kids, and we could not find an Airbnb near the kids school. Currently staying with friends calling the solicitors daily trying to finish off the purchase. – we could have squatted and refused to leave but we apply to be Irish this month and don’t want anything on our record that might slow that process. – a few more weeks would have been very nice. There is next to nothing out there and what’s out there could take fooorrreevveer to move into.
This is going to scare away more small landlords. Its completely bananas that this is even being discussed.
Didn’t seem to be an issue when they enacted it over lockdown. Vested interests galore.
This government refuses to actually help
