Unions formally accept public-sector pay deal for rises of 6.5%

  1. Does anyone know how the pay rise backdated to February will work? A lump sum? That’d presumably be taxed at the highest rate? Or some other mechanism?

  2. Finally some retribution for the hardest working people in the nation. I’m sure there were jubilant scenes during their 45 minute morning tea-break when the news was announced on Friday. I can only imagine the momentous increase in productivity now that our public servants, who are already highly motivated, finally have the extra insentive to achieve their goals. This is a watershed moment. I cried when I heard the news!! Finally, all our worries are gone. No more issues with housing, the economy, social problems… these highly talented, and now adequately monitised, HEROES finally have gotten their just rewards.

    THANK YOU

    A proud day.

  3. Anyone know when was the last time that the unions got a deal above the rate of inflation? Just seems like its always below over decades. Doesn’t that mean constantly deteriorating pay for their members? You can understand them accepting that in a recession of course but now?
