Well that’s what happens when you max out your mortgage at 0.25% and expect it stay at that rate for ever. Here’s a thing, maybe they could downsize or move somewhere cheaper.
Just waiting for people to ask the government for grants to help with their mortgage payments, and trust me there will be a lobby group asking for it.
What makes them think that renting will be cheaper, when it’s inevitable landlords will decide to increase their tenant’s rent to offset the mortgage rate increase. They would be better off downsizing to a cheaper house with a cheaper mortgage or maybe do some weekend work to bring more money in to afford their current house.
