Just was reading this ITV article on the explosion and they make reference to the hotel who stopped taking bookings so they could free up space for emergency services personnel.
“The Shandon Hotel in nearby Marblehill has stopped taking bookings for the night as it is making free rooms available for members of the emergency services.”
I didn’t see anyone mention it elsewhere and figured it should have some attention drawn to it.
Fair play to them. Hotels are stretched enough after lockdown and with inflation now.
Ah fuck lads, it looks like the shop and everything was torn to bits. Fair play to the Shandon.
No. Nobody gets positive PR for helping in this situation. I’m sure everyone in the community is doing what they can and will continue to do so in the coming days and weeks
When Cork flooded and the Kingsley hotel was under water people were moved to Hayfield Manor (5 star hotel) on a trailer on the back of a tractor. They came into reception and hayfield manor gave them tea and coffee. They sent an invoice down in the morning to the Kingsley that didn’t open for years due to the damage.
Anyone taking doing this should get press as many won’t.
RTE news are saying the same about the hotel.
They are also saying about family members of missing people at the cordon. It must be harrowing up there.
