India-UK FTA may get watered down amid Braverman’s remarks on visas

  1. Given that the India free trade agreement is supposed to be one of Truss’ big projects I was shocked to read Braverman’s remarks.

Considering the similar remarks she made about immigration during the leadership contest, it’s obvious she doesn’t care about her PM’s agenda and is just angling for her next leadership attempt after Truss is forced out.

This is probably true for half the cabinet. Truss’ premiership is hopeless because nobody in the cabinet or the parliamentary party is interested in doing their jobs anymore; everyone’s in it for themselves.

  2. What is the status of India’s involvement with Russia at the moment?

I know back in May/June they still had a lot of very far reaching arms deals and military/intelligence allegiances that were about to start running as well as new deals for grain and oil imports and tech exports after their alliance meetings a year ago last september(?)

Are these still going ahead as planned or is Modi starting to get on board with the rest of the world and distance himself and India from Russia now it’s heading for collapse?

  3. Almost every time the Conservative Government does something I might like, they either water it down or cancel it. Like HS2, I was willing to praise them for finally taking the decision to start it but then they cut the project by 1/3. Tragic.
