Romania bought for 44 million euros two fire ships from the Dutch company Damen a day before the visit of Prime Minister Mark Rutte / The purchase is made two months before the decisive vote for entry into Schengen

  1. The way that headline is worded I thought that Romania was sold for 44 million euros and two fire ships.

  2. This is not the first time we need to do this. Before NATO we needed to give Bechtel, a US company the contract to build a highway. It was expensive and they did no build anything. Then we had the frigates bought from UK before our EU membership talks.

It seems that western countries havevsome problems with corruption too.

I just hope that the Dutch will not fool us and still veto us 🤣

  3. I hate that my country is doing such an obvious bribe, which most likely will backfire making the whole transaction unnecessary!

I bet that another country will oppose now as they will want a bribe too since the imbecile Romanian government created a precedent.

If we had a chance to join the Schengen area, I think that’s lost now!

  4. If buying two fireships from the Dutch is meant as some kind of bribery, then it’s a really shitty one at it.

  5. Holland may or may not be the most corrupt European country, a narco-state on par with Mexico and Colombia, but they are certainly world leaders in self-righteousness.

  6. On the face of it, this could be political bribery, still 44m for 2 fire ships doesn’t sounds excessive or significant and they will be built at the Damen shipyard in Galati.

Not convinced this isn’t just coincidence.
