While this is definitely a win for equality and against discrimination, I am worried that this continues the trend of a race to the bottom of social services and not the other way around.

I’m not surprised by that, to be honest: I love my country, but in many ways, we are very much behind other countries with adjusting to new times and changing things. When you look at this incident, that is the role model that was okay in 1950, as the man was the only worker and the wife stayed home and cared about the kids. Times change and so, we have to keep up with the new things, abandoning old and outdated things from the past.
