Why is this being down voted? They are legitimate suggestions to save money and keep warm
Ranging from free to medium priced to expensive but there are things we can all do

Or… Or… hear me out… since the energy industry is already making hand over fist billions upon billions in pure profits, make them freeze prices exactly where they are and eat some of that cost with their vast reserves of wealth that dwarf entire countries GDPs.

Worth noting that blocking chimneys in certain older houses can cause really bad damp and mold issues which could potentially cause very costly damage.
So before blocking a chimney it’s worth researching to have an idea how it could affect the property you live in.

You know what kind of article would help? A special on how the government deregulated and allowed speculative entities into the energy market to gamble on energy prices.
You know, all these quasi companies who were buying cheap Russian energy before the war? What about their play in all this? In fact, how many of them such entities were “government backed” shall we say?
But yes, instead, let us patronize the plebs from our warm WFH desks to educate them.
Life most things, this is squarely in the governments many fuckups and despite saying Brexit would shield us against this kind of thing, well, I mean there is just one more lie.
Either Brexit has shielded us and the Government are trying to concoct a tragedy to deviate from their sham leadership, or you know, the Brexit thing was a lie from the start.
How about we stop the energy companies that have record fucking profits from being essentially war profiteers.
Our main issue is our garage is half under our 3rd bedroom. No insulation on the ceiling. I’m currently sat on the floor in the bedroom and it already feels cold. No money to sort the garage though.
Plenty will still just sit in the cold because even these measures won’t go far enough. It’s no different to the suggestions that people buy in bulk or cook batches of meals: it doesn’t help when you cannot afford to do all that to begin with. It will be of great help to squeezed middle but we should not forget the hundreds of thousands who have no option but to struggle while energy companies continue to make record profits.
Forgot that if you are renting most of these options are off the table.
Or, light a fire in the fireplace instead of burning gas or electric, and use that to light and heat the room.
Why block a chimney? I burn all sorts of rubbish in my fireplace and keeps us warm saves using my gas boiler…
