Staffordshire council bans lollipop lady’s body-cam

  1. GDPR the council becomes responsible for it and it is rather strict. She isn’t just Joe public recording the public she is a council worker.

  2. >The council said the camera purchased by the school did not meet the necessary legal standards the council must comply with.

Presumably someone could put in a GDPR request for the footage and the council would look bewildered and someone in legal doesn’t want to deal with it

  3. The school should just put up a fixed camera.

They already have cameras in their school and all of those will already comply with their GDPR and DATA Protection regulations.

Adding one that covers the crossing shouldn’t be a problem.

  4. *However, Staffordshire County Council said its use breached strict rules around the wearing of bodycams.*

Then install a CCTV camera in the area to watch the road and then maybe ENFORCE the law? How much are they paid in that council? Likely some good wages when comapred to the rest.

HELL, ALL schools should have cameras set up to prevent parents from parking on the Zigzags and issuing fines, and TO SAFEGUARD the children from being nearly ran down in the streets

  5. >The council said the camera purchased by the school did not meet the necessary legal standards the council must comply with.

I’d be interested to know what standards these are, and why a company camera can’t be used.

Thus sounds like a good use of bodycams.
