  1. I’d like to think this will bury his political career but it will probably improve his support from some of the neanderthals down there.

  2. Hurrah! Well, that’s most encouraging news on a grim bloody day. Good on that judge. This swaggering, violent git needed to be taken down a peg or twenty.

  3. He’ll have some awkward moments when he becomes a TD in a few years and questions are asked during his high profile campaigns for a space shuttle launch site, 75,000 seater stadium and motorway for west Kerry.

  4. Third generation of a political dynasty is always going to be full of chancers, criminals and idiots, or more specifically: less competent chancers, criminals and idiots

  5. Well, don’t they sound just charming…..

Reminds me of a similar(ish) story years ago in Hoggy’s in Cork. We were in the queue for food, which winds around the outside of the room, when two girls came in and walked straight to the counter demanding food.

Some wit in front me me saw the absolute opportunity of a lifetime: “Two trailer-park girls! Go ’round the outside! Round the outside!!” And they flipped out, one of them picked up a bin and tried to bash it over his head (I helped stop it hitting him). Was in there days later and apparently the security camera footage looked hilarious, abrupt chaos..

  6. The Kilgarvan locality will still crown that round bodied , sharp dicked ball of dough with a TD post. Honestly he could be done for rape or murder and the people of Kilgarvan would be cheering him in court. The only solution is turn the region into a landfill, there’s nothing good coming from there!!

  7. That was some appeal he had. Good lord, like.

“Based on the medical evidence It’s safe to assume something happened. I can’t say with any certainty how the injuries happened or who did what.”

“I can’t say what did or didn’t happen.”

“I don’t believe I told lies. Could I have added more? Absolutely.”

  8. The judge should have at least removed the suspended part for the three months. Teach the scumbag/spicebag a lesson

  9. Highlighting the level of utter ignorance at play here they chose to assault a Tourist in County Kerry where there’s a massive reliance on the Tourism Industry to put food on the table.

This assault included the shameless act of blindsiding the victim and constricting their airway so severely that they struggled to breathe. Luckily this thuggish behaviour didn’t have more serious consequences.

Then later after having time to consider the right course of action they nevertheless opt to actively pursue the victim to further attack them as they retreated to seek refuge. Then he holds them so that others can further assault them in a cowardly 3 on 1 attack – Stopping only to join in the attack himself.

Allegedly lying in a statement to Gardai on the plain facts to avoid justice being served.

Some might say he seems fortunate to have avoided a perjury charge through very selective phraseology in court – perhaps a credit to his legal counsel.

He may have gotten off Scot free with our usual pathetic suspended and concurrent sentencing but no decent person will ever have any time or respect for this type of person and people have long memories, he’ll die with this name and well-earned reputation on his gormless, fat, entitled head.

All three Assailants will also no doubt have long and prosperous political careers as everyone knows that the only standard required of Local Politicians is to go to Dublin and bring back local funding for roads, schools, pitches and hospitals.

PS Someone please post on r/Ireland the day these three individuals ever accidentally end up in a fair fight and go on to get their faces kicked up and down the main street for a half hour…..That will be the eventual justice served.

  10. Why would the judge suspend the sentence when he’s been uncooperative in both the court and with the guards? Fee months in prison for assault might actually teach him a lesson.

  11. >When they were a short distance up the street, they heard shouting from behind them and turned to see three men running towards them and shouting aggressively.
    >
    >Mr James said that within a matter of seconds, Jackie Healy-Rae had grabbed him and prevented him from moving while Kevin Healy-Rae and Malachy Scannell “punched my face in”.
    >
    >Mr and Mrs James both insisted that Jackie Healy-Rae also punched Mr James several times during the assault.

So… why is he not in jail?
