Hello, Belgians. What are your thoughts about this chocolate?

  1. it’s (very) decent Belgian chocolate for being factory made..

For more artisanal Belgian Chocolate, you should try something else..

  2. Definitely a classic but also quite industrial. If you are willing to pay the price for something more authentic go to a small Chocolatier. It will be more expensive but better and handmade. You can find one in every bigger city in Belgium.

  3. it’s ok. good for serving when people are over. they’re tasty and if you have 1 you’re gonna want more. They’re also fairly standard and there is better tasting chocolate from belgium both artisanal as factory made

  4. If you are ever near Sint Niklaas (Saint Nicolas) you can see the factory, idk from the inside but you can see it from the outside.

  5. Edible if stored in the fridge. But really too much of a butter-sugar-paper like taste. I sometimes buy them because they are cheap enough and my kids are happy with that butter-sugar-paper combo.

  6. Nostalgia, but for that price I’d go for Leonidas instead. Better quality and more taste variety.

But even Leonidas is mostly bottom tier of good pralines

  7. Pretty garbage tbh. We’ve a friend who often busts these out (buys in bulk, lives in another country) and we have to smile and nod politely when he gushes over them.

  8. They remind me of my grandmother, which is always nice. Without the emotional connection: not great.

  9. When I came to Belgium for my master study the first ‘friend’ I got gave me this as a birthday gift. I was green and I thought “oh okay, belgian chocolate tastes like regular supermarket chocolate, nothing special”

That was before I bought something from Leonidas and later, my closest belgian friend gave me a box of Neuhaus 😛

  10. I am a swede that lives in belgium. I grew up with this horrible chocolate do to my swedish grandma loving yo have this chocolate to give to us children. It doesnt taste so much chocolate as it taste sweet. Belgium has otherway beter chocolate as I found out when I moved here, I just though I disliked belgian chocolate.

  11. Makes foreigners happy when offered as a gift.

Doesn’t make it to our after-dinner table.

  12. My working theory is that everyone who receives a box as a gift, hangs on to them to pass them on to someone they don’t like very much.
