Question: How does one board a plane without a passport or travel card. Do they destroy them on route and if so surely the information is recorded somewhere? Asylum seeking looks like a scam to me.
Awfully unfortunate for that amount of people to mislay their passport on the second or subsequent leg of their journey and only after having their documents checked after boarding their Dublin bound flight.
Of course limitless immigration supporters downvote this.
Send them back if they don’t have documents.
I wonder if we can get in on priti patels Rwanda solution.
Think you’re sneaking into ireland?
Well now you are in Rwanda.
Surely the documents are recorded prior to boarding the international flight? Why can’t they check the flight records for whichever airline these people arrived on?
Just send them back in that flight immediately I’m sure they just left it at the departure gate somewhere
And why do they come here?
They know once they’re here the chances of being sent back are extremely slim.
Anyone who does this should be fucked on a plane to rawanda.
For once the brits are right on something and anyone who is doing this is taking the piss and has total contempt for our laws so we should make an example of them and piss on them from a height so nobody else follows them
Ah ffs. This is just beyond ridiculous!
The country is a joke, people arriving daily with nowhere to put them. We’ve become a dumping ground.
How is this acceptable, no documents.
This government and Helen McEntee needs to be got rid off..
No deportations.
No caps on immgration.
Gives special status to the so called undocumented, which there should have been a referendum on.
Causes fritction when the native Irish don’t even get houses ahead of immigrants.
Free health care.
Our own young people leaving in droves with shortage of housing and high taxes.
Hotels been used as refugee camps at the expense of the tax payer.
Holiday homes been taxed because of the lack of housing been built.
Killings at funerals and no word from our politicians but if a garda car is rammed it makes news headlines for a week.
If your Irish your a second class citizen in our own country.
People pretending to be from a war zone to get into europes most over generous welfare state.. shocking.
Fine, they can do that and we can bring them to processing in Gormanstown tents for the whole Winter. ‘Difficulty in processing your application because you have burned your fucking ID !’
These people show no respect for our laws.
This is where the UK’s rwanda policy is genius
I’m sure the airport’s security cameras will make it possible to figure out which flights they arrived on, though it may be laborious to narrow down their identities even with full passenger manifests and the assistance of the airlines.
I wonder if deliberately destroying travel documents would count against them in making asylum claims? I can imagine it might be important depending on what they had to do to secure travel, but it sure sounds dishonest.
They would have had to have had passports to gain access to the airplane in which they arrived here.
If they cannot produce said documentation, they should be refused access to the state and returned to their airport of origin.
They shouldn’t even be afforded the time to lawyer up at the public’s expense.
If the place of departure was from a safe country legitimate questions must be asked as to why they did not claim asylum there and why official’s in the offending country were so quick to send them on without any documentation.
This issue aside, people who were previously setting on the sideline regarding uncontrolled mass immigration need to start getting verbally hostile with politicians and most importantly officials regarding what is going on.
Day after day, you will see open borders fanatics calling for unlimited mass immigration in one post on one thread. Often using empty and factually incorrect emotional blackmail
And later (in often the same day). They will be complaining (and rightly so) about the never-ending increase in house prices and overstretched diminishing public services???
As if the issues have no relation to one and other!!! As if the massive increases in the demand for housing and the demand for services like health and education have no effect on them??
Great, even more strain on an already overstressed system, and you can guarantee they won’t be turned away as they should and it’ll add more push to the starting of an emigration crisis from ireland
They’re coached to do this.
This will have no effect on housing whatsoever though thankfully none, nothing not a bit
It’s the problem with the war time rhetoric and usual neoliberal wave of emotion around an event and the token gestures in the early days which are used for political gain or PR purposes but never backed by proper administrative or logistical work. Then those making the remarks early in these events go into hiding when the questions come back.
I’m not anti immigration especially for refugees and I will sound like a right winger but Ireland has a housing problem among many others we need to tend to and are failing with current population numbers vs resources so therefore adding to that will not make it any easier.
Why are Georgians claiming asylum? There is no war there or targeted persecution?
Worked cleaning planes on landing and it was a frequent thing to find torn up passports shoved into toilet bins
We literally follow Britain’s trajectory to a tee. Few more years and there will be a serious hit back against immigration because we failed to make adjustments over time. Ireland will get its own Tommy Robinson, incidents will happen, and it will be too late to reverse the damage done. More people = more profit
There are lots of people in this thread suggesting that any asylum seekers without travel documents or arriving on fake documents be sent back.
The problem with this is that there are many countries that these people are arriving from that either have entirely defunct and inoperative governments which therefore cannot issue travel documents, such as Somalia and Afghanistan, and others fleeing political persecution such as those from Cameroon who are fleeing death threats from the government themselves and so naturally, the people coming from there couldn’t get travel documents from the government.
Regardless of whether they have legitimate documents or not, when someone arrives on Ireland, or any country for that matter and requests to seek asylum, in accordance with international law, they must be allowed to do so and follow through with the due process, which means lodging an application with the International Protection Office for international protection.
Don’t most of them get repatriated pretty quickly, especially if they boarded the flight with an Albanian or Georgian passport? This has been an issue for ages. Binning your passport doesn’t mean you’re automatically granted asylum, even if you apply – far from it.
> The Department of Justice advised that a further unknown number may have claimed asylum with Garda immigration officers after being handed over by immigration.
They can’t count.
I hate to be that guy but im sort of sick and tired of the amount of immigrants in my western rural town getting the Vip treatment from our goverment while irish people go homeless. We can’t handle any more.
Our goverment can do naught for it citzens but rolls out the read carpet for refuegees.
The UK and the Schengen countries are bringing in travel authorisation (similar to ESTA in the US) from next year. Ireland needs to piggyback on one of them and bring in similar authorisation or as the odd one out we will be even more targeted as a soft touch
Send them back then? No travel documents, no entry.
More tax slaves oh sorry tax payers for the government to exploit
Damn you Desantis
Send them back it’s common sense
DEPORT
Powder keg. If even Reddit is getting anxious about this kind of thing how are the common voters thinking?
Free movement has an clear affect on wages that is openly acknowledged by economists (Stiglitz etc). Ireland is the only native English speaking nation in the EU now (besides Malta).
That makes us a lodestone for migration. The government need to wise up. They are too terrified of the opprobrium of the Brussels elite. 10-20 years down the line we will have some serious societal issues because Fine Gael are utterly spineless in tackling this issue.
Lots of people are coming here on bogus student visas as well. It’s an open secret and yet you will see many people applauding it.
It’s totally bizzare. The only immigration that is actually a boon to an economy is when you get someone who can get quickly get gainful employment. And even that has what economists call a distributive effect. It has a negative impact on wages since you have more competition for work.
Working class people are impacted by migration. Fine Gael need to wake up or in future years the future could be grim.
I have nothing but sympathy for people seeking asylum through legitimate means for legitimate reasons. This isn’t that – send them back on the plane they arrived on, I bet those documents will re-emerge.
We’ll end up like Sweden.
Ireland 32,595 sq miles.
Africa 11,730,000 sq miles.
I guess they had nowhere else to go, so shut up racist.
We can’t allow these people in without some process of vetting , checking with their homeland embassy, otherwise we have no idea on whom we are letting in. Italy’s massive right wing move is due to this and I don’t want us to fall foul either
I suppose you can’t possibly query this without being labelled a nazi or worse than hitler.
Bros, just… cool it with the anti-Semitic remarks!
How is this even legal
Honestly fuck all immigrants at this point, our country is on its knees as it is, we cant take any more people. The entire West is going to collapse because of all these economic migrants that we just keep letting in.
I am starting to understand more and more why Brexit passed.
