Why do the royals keep their wills secret? To stop the public seeing just how rich they are

  1. They might be the wealthiest family in the world, but we don’t know because they have managed to completely hide the extent of their wealth via secret adjustments to the law to hide everything.

  2. Fuck the crown. Cannot wait til the bitch dies. This world needs to move on. And if tradition doesn’t survive it wasn’t important enough

  3. Honestly at this point the Royals can join Nigel Farage, Piers Morgan and all of Scotland on the list of people I’m sick of hearing about on the radio and just wish would stop

  4. The point of the noble class is to be different than the commons. People should be mad at the concept of nobles, not the fact that when they exists they are rich. It’s the way the system has been designed. It works as intended. Just make that intention different than what it is now.

  5. We know the Queen ‘makes recommendations’ to parliament over her finances, just not the exact details of what she is hiding. She loves her lifestyle and is determined to maintain that standard for as long as possible, even if she does claim we are all in this together. Realistically, the royal family are already far wealthier than any average Brit could hope to be. There will even be millionaires who pale in comparison to them. I don’t think they need to hide their exact wealth as it never be seen as anything other than too much.

  6. My compromise: given that the Windsors cost us each about £1.24 a year, we should put the position out to tender.

The Patels from Luton might do it for £1.20, or the Lewises from Barry for £1.13.

  7. Time for the monarchy to go. Don’t think a nice wedding on the TV once a decade is enough to warrant their existence.

  8. The government has messed something up and the public are angry?

Time to write an article to attempt to redirect their anger to something else!

  9. RICH? WE pay for THEM they’ve got f***-all but a half empty showpiece house for tourists and a couple of castles!

  10. The royals cost each person half a Tesco meal deal does a year. And would you like the while world reading your will

  11. I’m on the fence with this. If they have their money invested in businesses and holdings, this is just like any other tax avoidance and required government legislation changes. Otherwise aren’t their possessions those of private citizens? What can possibly be gained by knowing Phillips will other than to know where his possessions went? They aren’t giving away state owned assets.
