Teacher warns teens turning to porn to learn about sex

  1. Consider the term NSFW. The W stands for “work”. It’s heavily implied you shouldn’t be using the internet as a minor!

That said what’s done is done and kids probably do need educating in such things much much earlier these days

  2. “In seeking to educate students so comprehensively on issues such as consent and pornography Temple Carrig secondary school would appear to be in a very small minority.”

As an RSE teacher, I would say that every school I’ve worked with, completed training with or have friends working in teach about consent. I genuinely can’t imagine any school not teaching about consent nowadays. It is included in the “Lockers” and “b4uDecide” programmes which are definitely the most popular programme with schools, it’s also in any of the textbooks/workbooks available.

Pornography on the other hand isn’t taught across the board- We only started teaching it when the Dublin Rape Crisis center published their resources, which have been excellent; But it’s definitely an area that needs to be highlighted.

The actual problem with SPHE/RSE is the lack of training available; it’s not taken seriously enough, and a lot of teachers are just winging it, not confident in the subject knowledge and just covering the bare minimum. There needs to be more investment in training, and school management need to treat it as any other subject and not just throw somebody into the classroom who isn’t qualified or capable of teaching it.

  3. Put them on a farm, they’ll figure it out like I did.

You put the woman’s head in a vice or crush to hold her in place, then the man from the Dairygold van puts on a comically oversized glove and inserts himself up to the shoulder in her vagina to inject the sperm directly.

I’m not entirely sure how the lgbt do it, but that’s none of my business.

  4. To be fair, he’s got a good point.

The kind of shit you see in porn nowadays is fucking crazy. 20 years ago your mates older brother had to sneak a wank mag back from a trip to Spain if you ever wanted to have a hope of seeing a pair of tits, but today kids have unrestricted smart phones in their pockets and can see shit we only dreamed of in the 90’s in 4K.

The biggest problem is that prolonged use does train you to want unrealistic experiences from your other half. Like, real people aren’t as compliant as the bimbo who bends over when she gets an unexpected visit from the plumber. Real sex is way more fun, but you have to put yourself out there and face rejection. Porn on the other hand (no pun intended) is instant, but unrealistic. Younger minds will have trouble telling the two apart.

  5. My sex education was being shown a video by some American lunatic called Pam who preached abstinence and kept going on about how she was a rape baby and in today’s world she would have been aborted and how terrible that would have been

  6. Or better yet how about you drop the catholic guilt and feature Sexual Education videos and books that will actually teach them the stuff that they need to know.

The internet is covered in them. (Ironically on porn sites)

The Lovers Guide and Channel 4’s 21st Century Sex series should be mandatory viewing.

    Zero excuses.
