You have my full hungarian consent to take Orban to Guantanamo and reprogram him to accept democracy more.
I mean, I have the impression that a deal could be struck with Turkey but in the case of Hungary, I think Orban just doesn’t want a deal because of his worldview re Putin.
Couldn’t agree more. The US should do something about Orbán, since the EU isn’t doing anything *at all* about him.
Even after Orbán stated he wanted to turn his country into a mini-Russia back in 2014, the EU did *absolutely nothing* and kept throwing a shitload of money at Orbán and his cronies. It did the exact opposite of what it should have done; it actively funded authoritarianism. The EU made Orbán the second-largest receiver of EU funds for years.
We can’t rely on the EU to tackle authoritarianism in our Union. That should be clear by now. So we gotta rely on someone else. It’s ironic that we have to rely on the US *again* to stop rising authoritarianism in Europe. Isn’t the EU supposed to deal with this? Isn’t that one of the main reasons we started this “peace project? To keep that bullshit out of Europe?
