These horrifying murders represent a danger to the respect and tolerance that support our societies. The EU is devoted to assisting in the struggle against hate crimes and speech of any kind. Despite the fact that they are also people, the LGBTIQ community needs to be protected.
Imagine wanting to throw away your life and that of two others because of how other people experience love.
The spreading of hatred eventually leading to stuff like this reminds me of things like the Norway or Christchurch attacks.Manifesto and all.
Or attacks like Pulse Nightclub shooting.Same principle of radicalized actor.I hope eventually Laws (and Culture) catch up to prevent the process in the Future.
As for the absolutist freeze peach advocates, yelling ‘Censorship’ at every hate speech Law: Fuck Off.Shit like this is why we even need to have that discussion.
For example, Germany has Laws against denying the Holocaust, display of a bunch of Symbols and dehumanization in general.Can lead to overreaction, sure – but is generally a good and working Idea.
Seems sensible to apply similar Statutes to Anti-LGBT Content or dehumanization of any general Group (Jews, Muslims, LGBT Folk). Hell, even Women in general have been targeted by Incel nutters and the like.
