My missus and I already can’t afford to live here. Hence why there’s 4 people in our apartment. When the lease is up we’ll be moving into my ma’s to get a nest egg together to get the fuck off of this rapidly sinking ship.

These places mightn’t be so bad if they’d a Murphy Bed you could fold away during the day…and they were like a quarter of the price.
This is effectively a bed sit. You could rent one of these bad boys in Sligo town 20 years ago for something like 20 euro a week. They were admittedly a lot darker and grimmer but fuck me, they had all the same mod cons as this shitehole.
Nice single bed as well. To remind you that the guts of 2 grand a month but you still havnt earned the dignity of not sleeping in a child’s bed. . And if you try to have sex or just share a bed for the intimacy of human touch, you’ll be made to regret it .

People need 70k a year to afford this+ bills. How someone who makes way over national median wage is expected to live like this? At what point living in more than 1 match box became a luxury only elites can afford for the entire country?

Its funny. We’re renting out a place we own in Crumlin and the estate agent said he could only get 1700 for us. We had friends living there until recently who kept the place for us at a mates rate. Its a nice 3 Bed (2 Double, 1 Box). Fully furnised with all mod cons. He said when he put it up for 2000 there was no interest in the place. This is only a couple a months ago btw. The place is rented now for 1700. We dont really care what we get as we just want to pay the mortgage but we are confused as to why we did not get the going rate in Crumlin/Drimnagh. Comparable houses are fetching up to 2500! Its mental.

See I lived in the UK for a good bit and they have the same sort of places they’re called bedsit’s. While not ideal they are good if you want your own space and don’t earn all that much. The difference here is they charge you flat prices while your essentially just sleeping in a kitchen. I thought they were so handy in the UK at the time (only about 8 years ago) because I could live central-ish and pay fuck all but the prices here are crazy.
Grayling property management. This listing is for this agency. They are known for renting out extremely small apartments for insanely high rent. I was almost gonna rent a listing from them before I moved to Ireland, until I noticed that the size of the place was 18m square.
Most of their apartments are on south circular road.
Just heard someone I know rented a spacious two bed apartment in Leitrim for 340 a month. I am still in a state of disbelief.
It’s only going to get worse and we’ll see loads of young people leave
