No of course not. Not unless he is a Norwegian citizen with Norwegian passport. I think he is full of shit (and an Incel idiot as well from the looks of it)
I mean, I never served and I aren’t even a immigrant.
He could maybe be a dual citizen, but no – foreigners do not need (or are allowed) to serve.
If I end up obtaining citizenship, my only concern is I’ll be too old to do the national service.
If you’re going for citizenship, why shouldn’t you do what’s expected of every other Norwegian? (Exclusions like disability not withstanding)
With a last name like that i dont want him here anyways
I think his family is Norwegian, and he was born in Norway. No idea if he has Norwegian citizenship, but I hope he stays away.
Im norwegian and never even got the letter
Hes a troll. Why would we want an idiot like that in our Army? And hes to old.
And yes i served.
100% B.S.
We don’t enlist immigrants that have been here for 2 months, you need to be atleast a Norwegian citizen which can take years to become. You won’t even get a Norwegian social Security number (personnummer) ~~unless you’ve been here for at least 6 months.~~ unless you’re going to stay longer than 6 months. But then you have to prove that you’re going to registerer that you’re moving to norway. Fairly certain you have to prove that you’re going to work or study in Norway in order to have this approved as well(?)
All that aside, this guy looks to be way to old to be enlisted to the army anyway.
After checking his Twitter profile, it’s safe to assume he’s either lying intentionally to fit a certain narrative, or he’s so delusional that he actually believes his own lies to be true.
Pro tip, say that you’re a pacifist. The government has to respect your beliefs
It’s like a diarrhea of thoughts. I don’t even understand what he’s talking about. Maybe it’s relevant, maybe it isn’t. Why has he moved to Norge, exactly?
I didn’t have to serve cause I missunderstood the hearing test 😅
Former workmate, whom migrated from Albania when he was 5ish served in the army. But got told halfway through that he wasn’t supposed too since he wasn’t Norwegian.
lol, of course not.
You gotta be a citizen for that. I think it is this way in almost every country except France (if you join the French Foreign Legion, which has a sucky promotion structure compared to normal french army unless your a third world national) Russia, (some ex-soviet union countries can join, and now they hiring Middle eastern mercs), and I think there might be a few random exceptions here and there.
Actually, I just looked it up, a ton of countries allow residents to join up, but yeah, not new immigrants for sure. Isreal lets jews join, so i guess thats a bit of an exception.
France is the only country that really heavily recruits any forigner from any country
Dual citizens can sometimes choose which country they want to serve in. When I was a conscript I shared room with a Greek man who has a Norwegian mother and he had the option to serve in Norway or Greece, and chose Norway because it was considered milder.
Don’t know if that applies to the individual above.
Lies! Im norwegian and wanted to serv and was suposed to go to panserbataljonen, but got denied on day one becouse of alergi to Kiwi..
>Gottu be able to eat anything in the fields, you gottu go!
He is a troll. This is not real.
So how does someone like that just move to Norway, where as someone like me who has 100% norweigen ancestry and can trace my line back to the 1400s, and also still keeps in touch with relatives in Norway cannot and is stuck in North Dakota. I mean there is a path but for the most part it’s unattainable.
Pretty sure this is the same guy who said Grønland in Oslo was a “no-go” zone for white people and showing a video of the area that has the police station just out of frame and two white girls walking around.
It’s ironic your last name is Sweden. Your reaction about standing up for your country is congruent with the name.
This is an ancient copypasta guys. OP’s a troll.
Its a troll. Also why do you care about what some idiot wrote on Twitter? Uninstall that crap, it rots your brain.
No, you don’t have to. You get sent a form where you fill out education, physical capabilities, allergies etc.
In this form you can write a comment on how motivated you are to enroll in the army. I wrote that i am not very motivated, and i haven’t been called in.
If you do get called in, you are requiered to enroll for a first year service in the army. You are not requered to continue in the army after the first year service.
No, immigrants can’t serve in the Norwegian army. I think it has to do with espionage prevention, but I’m not certain of the specifics.
He’s just an attention seeker, and has been for years
I think everybody gets the letter, but it’s not obligatory. Many people want into the military, so just say ur not motivated and theyll usually pick someone else
I don’t have military duty so far i think, something about my ADHD and such.
What military? Norways military is non existent. The USA keeps their children safe.
I was in the USMC and had a lot of friends that trained with the Norwegian military. I’d be honored to serve in Norway’s military from everything I’ve heard about them. True professionals. Amazing tankers, especially.
Oh, I remember this incident. Peter Sweden was a Norwegian citizen living in Britain, he was a pretty big anti-immigration figure. However, when he tried moving back to Norway they told him he had to register with the national draft registry since he hadn’t lived in Norway since turning 18 but was still of service age. He wasn’t actually being called out to the military but thought he was.
Well, in Norway you can just find up whatever reason and you can be exused. Food allergies etc are the easiest to prevent you from going.
Nope. I never served, and neither did many of my friends. One of which even wanted to serve
Yes they are the first ones we usually send to war
Great meme 😀
This has to be a joke, right?
Why isn’t he willing to storm the beaches of Kaliningrad?
This is incorrect. That dude is just trying to stir shit up.
No they do not so this guy is either lying or trolling or what not.
I served 15 years in the Royal Marines and moved to Norway, was actually hoping I’d get called up for National service just for fun, but it never happened 😆
This guy is a weirdo, dont believe anything he says.
No, I’d say this is fake or he is lying
My Grandfather had to serve in the Norwegian army when he moved to Norway from Denmark. He also served in Denmark. But this is 50+ years ago. I had to serve and so did my siblings, but it is not as strict with the mandatory recruitment anymore. So Im pretty sure its not true as of today.
I got contacted as usual by the miltary in high school, filled out the survey thing and I got denied. I mentioned i didn’t want to and that’s often a pushing factor if they want you or not. I think they’d prefer to recruit people who wants to be there

also, I’m not an immigrant
From forsvaret.no:
“The usual course of self-declaration, session and first service applies to Norwegian citizens. It may nevertheless be possible for foreign nationals, who reside in and have a permanent connection to Norway, both to be required and to voluntarily apply for military service.
See, among other things, Section 6 of the Defense Act , which states that foreign nationals may be subject to conscription. See also more about the possibilities in the conscription regulations § 22 and limitations according to the conscription regulations § 2 .”
It’s unusual for foreign citizens to be drafted, but sounds like it could happen if you’re in Norway for many years
Ummmmm… No.
It’s *possible* (I do not know this for certain in either direction, as I’m not eligible for military service anyway) that once you become a *citizen* you can get called up for the mandatory military service, but simply as a freshly-minted *immigrant* to Norway? No. Total bullshit. Perhaps tinpot dictatorships would do that, but to be honest, that kind of policy would be inviting spies, saboteurs, and budding terrorists to your shores.
Like, I moved here more than a year before this dude claims to have moved here, and I never received a letter from the military. Because why the hell would I?
Perhaps if he was a Norwegian citizen from birth and *moved back* to Norway? That would make sense. But even then, it’s really just a matter of telling them you don’t want to do it. While the service is ‘mandatory’, they don’t actually want people who don’t want to be there.
Dude’s most likely talking out of the hole where his poops come out.
No, I guess he was a Norwegian living in the UK, or just trolling.
If you immigrate **and** become a citizen **and** is still within the age range they recruit from you might get randomly selected for an evaluation, but from what I understand these days you can basically just say you are not interested and they (usually) won’t push it (was not the case back in the early 00’s when I was called in unfortunately) because they get enough volunteers to fill the posts they need.
That is subject to change obviously, if Russia doesn’t get the message and keep being hostile towards everyone they might decide to increase the number of people they can call up again. Currently infantry training is less of a priority than upgrading the navy and airforce with expensive new hardware.
As an English guy living in Norway it should be a requirement that all people moving here from a NATO country should serve one year in the military. I would have happily done it even though I don’t ski and not too keen on the cold 🤣
I got my passport in less than a month ago, got my citizenship this summer, lived here for almost ten years. Do I have to serve?
I just said I was a pacifist, and they didn’t even bother to try (i think they’re in money-saving mode nowadays, so only motivated people to get to go).
