  1. In his speech not a single word on the Ukrainian crisis LMAO

Right wing on their way to elect the worst possible people ever created [SPEEDRUN CHALLENGE]

  2. Hopefully they gave this douche a largely ceremonial position to avoid appointing him for a powerful government seat.

    Hopefully.

I mean, this mf is a true disgrace of a human being, but I try hard to find something positive in this political shitshow…

  3. >On Friday, the lower house picked League lawmaker Lorenzo Fontana as its speaker. He is known for his socially conservative, eurosceptic positions and has repeatedly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him in 2018 “a shining light even for us in the West.”

    >Fontana is a controversial figure in Italy. He once said that gay marriage and mass immigration threatened to wipe out Italy’s traditions and he is fervently anti-abortion.

    >He repeatedly called for the lifting of European sanctions that were imposed against Russia following its annexation of Crimea in 2014. In 2018 he said: “I have been favorably impressed by so many of Putin’s statements and by the great Christian religious awakening seen in the country.

Seems like a swell fella… Please get your senses back, Italy.

  4. Fontana is a disgrace but the good thing is that the new right-wing majority has already begun to quarrel before even forming the new government. Berlusconi yesterday was furious with the newly elected president of the Senate “La Russa” and He said him to “Fuck off” and today there is a photo of Berlusconi holding a paper on which he wrote several insults against Giorgia Meloni.

  5. Fuck this country, fuck its people, fuck its government, fuck everything about it. I hope it all crumbles in a way that makes late 2000s Greece look like paradise, maybe we’ll learn something.

The September 25 elections should have never been held.

  6. Good. A few years of world wide ridicule and isolation, economic shitshow and disastrous social policies is what this country deserves. Maybe some people will open their eyes once the damage is done.

  7. and it’s not even his worst trait. He’s openly for the repeal of the law that allows abortion, openly homophobic, has called the neonazi golden dawn party in Greece his friends and he is a supporter of Hellas Verona, said to have the most extreme right ultras in Italy (think displaying of celtic crosses and swastikas).

Well, what I can say, I am lucky enough to have escaped from such a disgusting moral low. Hopefully my new German friends will keep rejecting their equivalents, as they have done so far.

  8. From Wikipedia:

Fontana is widely considered an ultraconservative.[26][27][28] He calls himself a “crusader” who fights against abortion, euthanasia, same-sex civil unions and stepchild adoption, which he considers as a “weakening of the family”. He is also against “pro-LGBT” sexual education, stating that Vladimir Putin’s Russia “is the reference for those who believe in a nationalist model of society”.[29] Fontana is a great admirer of Putin, who described as a “light” for the Western world.[30] On 2 June 2018, the day after becoming minister, he added that “gay families do not exist”.[31][32]

He opposes illegal immigration to Italy, claiming it to be a serious threat that “aims to erase the Italian people along with their communities and traditions”, along with “gay marriages and the so-called gender theory in schools”.[33] Moreover, during his political career, Fontana built strong ties with neo-nazi groups in his hometown Verona.[34][35]

  9. After reassurances that Meloni wouldn’t be an extremist and any distrust towards her was unjustified, we now have this.

This isn’t even a “told you so moment”, because it was just that obvious.

  10. Oh come on, that’s misleading…

… because he is not only pro-Putin, but also anti-EU, strongly anti-abortion to the point that he wanted to abolish it, anti-LGBT, pro-traditional family (he was minister for family in the first Conte government and supported the Verona family day), ultracatholic, basically he may even be more extreme than La Russa on several issues.
