Younger voters will never back ‘anti-EU and populist’ Tories – ex-cabinet ministers

  1. The only young people who would vote for this Tory party are alt-righters with a cynical worldview, who post Pepe and Chad vs Virgin memes to each other in their telegram echo Chambers, say that Dr Who is “too woke” and whose immigration stance boils down to “sink the boats”. They’ll often parrot alt-right buzzwords and nonsense they’ve seen in youtube comments. We all know the usual suspects- things like Bill Gates injecting a microchip into them or whatever.

These people don’t even need the BNP and UKIP anymore. This is 2022s “Young Conservative”.

Now there’s a worrying amount of them. But *decent* young people outnumber them and the Tories know it.

  2. This isn’t necessarily true, it’s based on current trends but really the tories aren’t “populist” and never have been, they’re a party for the extractive gerontocracy.

Orban is exactly as popular with 18 year olds as he is with 59 year olds

  3. Hard to imagine anyone ever voting for this atrocious shambles of a political party. But we all know there’s a fool born every minute.

  4. Even my dad, a life long Conservative voter, cannot stand this shower of idiots any more. They’re losing people from all demographics and I hope it is terminal for the Tory Party.

  5. Well they definitely won’t when the party offers them nothing and in many ways seems to go out of its way to actively curtail them!

  6. No, the Tory party will change with the will of the people. It’ll be what it needs to be to get elected, exactly has labour has done over the years.

  7. You think because I ain’t supporting the Conservatives. I’m gonna vote for the self-righteous do no wrong white knights and ladies of the Labour party? You can fuck right off. I can see through their bullshit like looking through glass.

  8. So they need to step up on efforts to stop the young voting. More ID cards, more facebook ads saying “they’re all as bad as one another” and then an extra tax tied to being on the electoral register (ala poll tax) ought to do it.

  9. see, you can tell the whole speil is nonsense because the idiot thinks there is anything populist about the toffs in the torie party.

  10. The generation that took us out of Europe and dropped us into bed with russia will be remembered as the worst generation.

  11. Well dur they created the shit show we have to live with after votes we couldn’t participate in

  12. We’ve had a Tory government for 15 years. How many voting cycles is that? I mean come on.

Here’s an idea, the majority of people voting Tory are doing so to keep Labour out of government “better the devil you know.” Vote Tory to keep Labour at bay/vote Labour to keep Tories at bay.

There are at least 2 other options, [Green Party](https://www.greenparty.org.uk/news/) and [Liberal Democrats](https://www.libdems.org.uk/splash?splash=1) come to mind.

Too many people keep playing the Labour Tory game for us to get anywhere.

Edit: down voted for talking fact?

  13. I genuinely hope the Tory party does die a horrible death in the next GE, but they are too useful to the establishment to be let go. What is more likely is that they will be repackaged and in 12 years or whatever after everyone is sick of Labour, the New Tories will take over.

  14. Its always said as people get older, they become more conservative, and likely to vote Conservative, but I’m not so sure this will continue hold.

I can see the boomer generation being the last to embrace the current Tories who are hung up on being Little Englanders, flag waving, immigrant hating knobs.

  15. That be like Lambs Backing the slaughter house. Anyone voting Tory is either a greedy rich fuck or a stupid unaware dipshit, no in-between

  16. It’s just the usual cycle of one party gets into power for too long they always fuck it up in the end so the other party gets in and does exactly the same, it’s always been like that since the start. It doesn’t really have anything to do with age just circumstance dressed up as something else.

  17. Well I had a coworker who voted for Brexit and Tory…. He was 24 at that time… so nope. Young people are still voting them.

  18. Met a young guy who voted Tory because of the first time buyer thing, young people can be bought, even when it doesn’t make sense.

    We are not well educated.
