Is there spam in poland? Ive Been turned towards krakus canned ham, but it’s closer to italian “cotto” ham. I’ve tried a couple Pâté from the deli, but they are too soft. Can anyone help? Really wanna make spam-musubi/spam fried rice.

  1. The closest You will get in PL is the canned ham. You just have to try few brands, and decide which one will fit Your taste buds best.

  2. Never seen actual SPAM in stores. I’m afraid you need to look for polish canned hams instead

  3. I have never seen it in normal shops, you should look for it in shops with american products, also check Dealz if you are close to one because they have weird food available in UK so spam could be there

  4. Mind you guys, it doesn’t need to be the American brand spam. Just a product that is similar or a a copycat.

The texture is the most important thing.

  5. I’ve had a “konserwa lisiecka” in a Polish 24h field ration, pretty sure you can buy it normally too.

  6. Pate is finely ground pork. So is spam. So are hot dogs. Pate comes in many forms ✨ and I love all of them.

  7. I saw spam only once, in asian food shop. It was imported and veery pricey, about 40-45 złoty (bit less than a 10 euro). Didnt bought it. Maybe you can buy it online?

  8. There are several “foreign foods” and “American” stores in Warsaw where you’ll find very specific items. Not sure if they have Spam and have no idea why you would want it, but hey, there is a shot.

  9. Try some Asians stores, maybe some online Asian stores. I believe I saw one on kimchi.pl

  10. britishshop.pl should have SPAM, they also have a store in Warsaw

  11. I love SPAM and Polish ones are really good. There is a lot of brands even some local ones but in general you should look for “konserwa turystyczna” or “gulasz angielski”. These two are exactly what you are looking for. My favourite are from Krakus but there is a lot of decent ones.
Watch out though, cause cheaper ones can have o lot of lard which in my case is deciding factor (a little bit is okey).

  12. Try “konserwa turystyczna” or “gulasz angielski” or “mielonka”.

  13. Look for cans with “mielonka tyrolska” (Tyrol mince), “konserwa turystyczna” (tourist preserve) or “gulasz angielski” (English stew)

  14. the clostest to SPAM is Mielonka, and Konserwa Turystyczna. If you want to fry it, I think Konserwa would be better, it holds the shape better when heated.

  15. search for lunchmeat or lanšmít, seen both spellings, it’s basically spam

  16. We don’t have SPAM, we have KONSERWA TURYSTYCZNA

  17. I haven’t seen any here and I’ve been here (in Białystok) since December. I know Dealz has, or at least had, HP as well as other food items from UK. You must find a Dealz if you haven’t already 🙂😉

  18. “Konserwa turystyczna” or “konserwa tyrolska” or “gulasz angielski” my friend. I feel one of those should to be close.

  19. Try MIELONKA TYROLSKA, its the closest thing you will get to Spam in Poland.

  20. SPAM is closer to “Mielonka” than anythign in the can. You can buy mielonka in any bigger supermarket (like Auchan) at the meat section. It is normally packed in plastic like sausages.

  21. Sometimes you can get spam in “kuchnia świata” type stores. You know stores that sells only international sweets and food

  22. As the others are saying, the closest you can find is konserwa turystyczna/gulasz angielski. It’s more coarse than spam, but is still pretty much the same product.

  23. Check in Aldi. My American Hubbz got crazy when he found it there.

  24. you may try to buy “mielonka tyrolska” on the meat counter in some shops

  25. And when your at canned food in Poland, you must try Konserwa Turystyczna. It’s a metal can containing solids and liquids, sometimes even gases, used for many purposes during tourist trips. More accurate (though not necessarily truthful) information is given on the label. The legend says that it contains a tourist grounded in with a tent.

  26. Look in the canned goods section of the store for stuff called “mielonka”, “konserwa turystyczna” and/or “gulasz angielski”. Those are all quite similar canned meat products.

  27. Yes. SPAM = mielonka mięsna

    Try:
    – mielonka luksusowa by Krakus (canned)
    – mielonka mięsna by Evra Meat (canned)
    – mielonka konserwowa by Duda (plastic wrapping – usualy sold by clerks as they cut it off)
    – Mielonka tyrolska by Drosed Podlaski (plastic/aluminum box)
    – Mielonka turystyczna by Profi (plastic/aluminum box)
    – and something totally differend… out of the box, an “off-brand”: “Tyrolska konserwa” by Sokołów (canned)

But in fact more popular in PL is Ham than Spam, so you need to see in 4 places – on the canned food, by the pateè, in fridges with meat and by the fridges by the meat/butchers part where clerks gives you food.

    P.S.
    wieprzowa/wieprzowina means pork,

    drobiowa means fowl (usually chicken)

    wołowa/wołowina means (beef)

    sometimes they mix different meats
