Firefighters sacked for bullying, racism and pornographic messages

  1. > On a separate occasion, one firefighter used a racial slur, saying he’s tired “having run like a n*****” the previous night.

    > When he later apologised to the group saying it is “unacceptable in this day and age”, a colleague says he needs not apologise as “hopefully the whole station knows it was lighthearted. #Cornish #n*****”.

    WTAF?

  2. My understanding is that the messages were in a friendly group chat separate from work. Why the fuck is anything that doesn’t affect the actual job being used to strike people off.

As for bullying and criticism of younger firemen I’d guess it came off worse than it really was meant, firemen I’ve met in the past have shared a darker sense of humour and more blunt way of putting things Similar to how soldiers do.

  3. I find it perplexing that people (adults and teens alike) feel the need to be racist as a joke, if they’re not actually racist, as they claim. Most people never make such jokes, if they’re actually raised to respect other human beings as individuals.
