Hi. I have recently moved into a newly refurbished Altbau apartment with the classic exposes hot water pipes that feed into radiators. See [here](https://preview.redd.it/81f1ob300hs91.jpg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=084169c59aeb83bd0bca914112657368a7dc80e6).

. The apartment does not have radiators yet as there was a delay here. Unfortuately the pipes make a loud-ish humming noise and you can hear water going through them. This has been causing problems for my sleep and I’m looking for a solution. I tried putting some Rohrisolierungen like [https://www.bauhaus.info/rohrisolierung/thermaflex-thermago-pe-rohrisolierung-1513/p/20005359](https://www.bauhaus.info/rohrisolierung/thermaflex-thermago-pe-rohrisolierung-1513/p/20005359) on the bottom half of the pipes in one room (I ran out) but it looks ugly and didn’t seem to help what-so-ever.

A few questions:

1. Is this a renovation problem? Can it fixed easily e.g. by bleeding the radiators (when they arrive) or getting some attachments that secure the pipes to the walls?
2. Will radiators make them quieter somehow?
3. Failing the above, is there a way to soundproof these pipes that also looks decent?

  1. Sounds like there is air in the pipes, “Entlüften” letting air out of the system should reduce the noise.

  2. The radiators will quiet things down significantly.

Without any load on the system, the water probably circulates very fast at the moment, causing turbulences and vibration. Once everything is in place, and the system balanced, it should be fine.
